Dael Waxman, MD

Dael is a Professor Emeritus of Family Medicine at Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC.  Previously Interim Chair and Vice Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, he continued on the faculty there as well as served as the Medical Director of Physician Well-being for Medical Education for Atrium Health and Medical Director of Patient-Centered Programming at Atrium CMC-Mercy.

 

On a national and international level, Dael served on the Board of Directors for Planetree International, an organization committed to exceptional person-centered healthcare.

 

He is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine, did his residency in Family Medicine as well as served as Chief Resident at the University of Arizona and completed a Family Systems Medicine Fellowship at the University of Rochester.

 

In addition to his medical background, he has received training in and has been integrating family therapy, clinical hypnosis, mind/body medicine, mindfulness and leadership coaching into teaching, practice, and faculty development for over 25 years.  As a graduate of the HealthCare Coaching Institute, Dael has a focus on leadership, life, and professional well-being coaching.  He has taught regionally, nationally, and internationally on: physician burnout and well-being, mindfulness in medicine, developing a patient and family centered culture, family influences on health, physician-patient communication, and collaboration between mental heath and primary care.

All retreat accommodations include tuition, meals, access to campus amenities, two post-retreat group coaching sessions, and eligibility to earn CME credits
